Hey, All Elementary School GLOBE Students and Teachers!!!

Plant Nutrient Team picture

Join the nutrient team, Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K), as they take you on a journey to learn about what they do! N, P, and K are important nutrients that help plants grow. Of course, plants need soil to live and grow in and soil is where N, P, and K are found, just waiting for plant roots to take them up!

All living things depend on the soil for life. Without soil, we could not grow the food we eat. The soil cleans and stores the water we drink, and provides a place to build our houses, roads, schools, and cities.

How we care for the soil is important to our lives. As the world population increases and more food is needed to feed all the people, knowing what is best for the soil, what is best for the plants, and what is best for the world around us is a very important part of everyone's education.

Fun With the Plant Nutrient Team activity book helps us better understand what the soil needs to be healthy, so plants can grow healthy. Healthy plants are used to make food that we eat, so we can be healthy too!

Click on the nutrient team so they can take you to fun activity pages that you can print out, then color and draw on! Ask your teacher or a parent to help you print them! (there are 23 downloadable PostScript pages, each approximately 75K).

Here's what's inside!:
  • you can help the farmer find some unhealthy plants
  • you can do an experiment to learn what happens when plants don't have enough food and sunlight
  • you can find the parts of a farm
  • you can figure out how to get a plant food truck to the farmer
  • you also can find things in their town store that came from the farm
